VUSN names Keck assistant dean for Administration

Becky Keck, M.S.N., R.N., has been named assistant dean for Administration at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

“Becky is a talented administrator, instructor and nurse who brings with her a long track record of successes,” said Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D., dean of VUSN. “She is uniquely suited to make important contributions to our work here.”

Keck has served in many capacities throughout the Medical Center for more than 10 years. In 2007, she joined the School of Nursing as the clinical director for Geriatric Services. In this role, she served as a faculty member for the Health Systems Management specialty in the Masters in Nursing program as well as the clinical director for geriatric services for University Community Health Services. In this capacity, she provided leadership, strategic planning and development and implementation of geriatric services.

Prior to that, Keck served for nine years as assistant hospital director, Nursing Finance and Operations for VUMC, where she gained a reputation as an efficient and effective leader.

Keck's initial nursing career started in medical surgical nursing and surgical intensive care.

She worked in a community-based hospital in Lexington, Ky., as the director of Nursing: Medical/Surgical Services and later moved to the University of Kentucky Medical Center as the divisional director of Nursing Support Services.

Keck is a native of Bowling Green, Ky.

She completed her Bachelors in Nursing at Western Kentucky University and her Masters in Nursing with a concentration in nursing administration from the University of Kentucky.
