VUSN’s Minnick named to nurse education board

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Levitt has appointed Vanderbilt University School of Nursing's Ann Minnick, Ph.D., R.N., to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP).

Minnick will join the Council this fall and will serve through 2010.

The NACNEP advises the HHS secretary and members of Congress on policy issues including nurse workforce supply, education and practice improvement.

“Ann is an accomplished health services researcher who will bring significant experience and insight into this advisory role,” said Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D., dean of VUSN.

Minnick has been awarded numerous national grants that have influenced the environment of nursing practice and helped advance the nursing profession.

She has consulted with education and service institutions as well as several state, federal and international projects. Her current research concerns are issues related to health service delivery, nursing human resources and patient-centered care.

Minnick is the Julia Eleanor Chenault Professor of Nursing.
