Wedel set to serve as senior elevate coach

Cindy Wedel, M.P.A., has joined Vanderbilt Medical Center as senior coach in the Center for Organizational Learning.

In this new role, Wedel will be responsible for elevate-related coaching resources throughout the Medical Center.

“From the very beginning of our elevate journey to organizational excellence, it has always been our intention to diminish our reliance on the Studer Group coaches, and Cindy's appointment is a significant step in bringing the coaching resource in-house,” said Peter Giammalvo, Ph.D., chief learning officer.

Studer coaches are outside consultants.

“We want our own Vanderbilt internal coaches to assist our staff in improving patient satisfaction and other dimensions of our culture of excellence,” Giammalvo said, adding that Wedel will work with departmental leaders much as Studer coaches have done.

Wedel most recently served as chief operating officer at St. Thomas Hospital. Her office is at 2525 West End, Suite 700. She will report to Giammalvo.
