Wesley Littrell to join VUMC

Baptist Hospital’s chief operations officer Wesley Littrell will join Vanderbilt University Medical Center in August as the new assistant vice chancellor for health affairs and vice president for Network and Business Development.

In his new position, Littrell will work closely with Jeff Kaplan, associate vice chancellor for Health Affairs, and David Posch, chief operating officer for Vanderbilt Medical Group, to oversee growth and further development of VUMC’s various clinical enterprises located in Williamson County.

Additionally, Littrell will be responsible for furthering VUMC’s existing partnerships, and the development of new partnerships, with hospitals, physician practice groups, and individual physicians throughout Middle Tennessee.

“During my career I’ve had the opportunity to work in for-profit health care, not-for-profit health care, and faith-based health care,” Littrell said. “The one area of health care I have not had the opportunity to experience during my career is in an academic setting. Coming to work for Vanderbilt fulfills that goal.

“Vanderbilt is very well respected in the community. I have many personal friends and professional colleagues who work at Vanderbilt. When we began discussions about this position it seemed like a natural fit.”

Littrell brings to VUMC over two decades of health care experience in a broad array of hospital and patient care administrative positions. Throughout his career Littrell has held a number of administrative positions in hospital acute care settings, ambulatory care, outreach/ business development and physician practice management.

For the last 18 years Littrell has served St. Thomas and Baptist Hospitals in a variety of administrative and health care business development roles.
