Whitney to edit Vanderbilt Medicine
Kathy Whitney has been named editor of Vanderbilt Medicine magazine.
The twice-yearly publication, produced by the Medical Center's Office of News and Public Affairs, is targeted to graduates of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Whitney succeeds Nancy Humphrey, who served as the editor of the award-winning Vanderbilt Medicine for 12 years and was recently promoted to assistant director of News and Public Affairs and director of publications.
“Kathy brings many years of experience to the job and is well suited to continue Medicine's tradition of excellence set forth by Nancy,” said Bill Hance, director of News and Public Affairs.
Whitney rejoined the News and Public Affairs office in June 2007.
From 1987 to 1990 she worked in the office as a staff writer, eventually becoming editor of the Reporter.
In addition to her new editorial position, she will continue to be responsible for media relations, publications and Reporter coverage for the Vanderbilt Heart & Vascular Institute.
“Kathy will be an excellent editor for Vanderbilt Medicine, while continuing her responsibilities with Vanderbilt Heart,” said Humphrey.
“She's smart, creative, organized and an ultimate professional. Vanderbilt Medicine will be in good hands.”
