Adam Habib, PhD, MPhil, vice chancellor and principal, University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, right, talked about how research university leaders need to reassess the role of collaboration and partnerships in an era defined by changing economic, political and activism realities during a guest lecture on May 2 hosted by the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health.

Habib’s visit is an important part of an emerging collaboration between two institutions with similar cultures and strengths, said Jeff Balser, MD, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Dean of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
