107.5 Radiothon Raises Record Amount for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital

Last week’s 107.5 River of Hope Radiothon was the most successful radio-based fund-raiser in the history of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. The total from the three-day effort by the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) to benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt was $321,424 – almost double what was raised last year. In 2006, the River of Hope Radiothon raised $175,510.Morning show personalities Woody and Jim, along with other 107.5 The River stars Madison and Ryno all continued their ongoing stint for the third straight year as hosts. “It’s a privilege to be a part of the Radiothon,” said Jim Chandler of the Woody and Jim Show. “When we first toured the hospital three years ago, we knew it was something we wanted to be involved with.”The majority of thepledges made during the Radiothon were to join The River Kids Club, a one-year commitment of $15 per month. “On behalf of the team we want to thank The River. They’ve done such a great job supporting the hospital, right from day one,” said Lisa Dill, CMN director for Vanderbilt Children’s. “This year’s effort surpassed everyone’s expectations. The families and staff who were interviewed — their testimonies — are what drive people to call, so we have to thank them, too, for sharing their stories.”Vanderbilt Children’s is one of the 22 founding hospitals of the Children’s Miracle Network. Formed in 1982, the CMN is the only national philanthropy in which 100 percent of all locally-raised money goes directly to local member hospitals.
