The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine will host the Vanderbilt Cardiovascular Symposium 2016 on May 4, highlighting ongoing vascular and heart-related basic and clinical research.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. in 214 Light Hall.
New this year, the program will be led by visiting speakers who are renowned in their areas of expertise. Guest speakers include Mark Creager, M.D., president of the American Heart Association; Alan Daugherty, Ph.D., director of the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine; Edward Fisher, M.D., Ph.D., MPH, director of the Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease at New York University School of Medicine; Katey Rayner, Ph.D., director of the Cardiometabolic microRNA Laboratory at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute; and Roy Silverstein, M.D., chair of the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
“We’re excited to welcome this very distinguished group of guest speakers to Vanderbilt to discuss the latest advances in cardiovascular research. It should be a terrific event,” said Thomas Wang, M.D., director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and physician-in-chief of Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute.
The abstract submission deadline to be eligible for student, postdoc and fellow awards is Friday, April 22, at 5 p.m.
