Vanderbilt University Medical Center has opened Vanderbilt Health Hendersonville, a new 31,000-square-foot facility that offers adult outpatient specialty care, along with pediatric specialty care and imaging services to the citizens of Sumner and surrounding counties.
Hendersonville ranks as Tennessee’s 11th largest city and saw a population increase of approximately 13.2% between 2010 and 2019, according to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates. Growth projections show that the population in Sumner County will increase 45% by 2035. The Vanderbilt Health Hendersonville facility and the services now offered there were planned with this in mind.
“With Middle Tennessee’s continued growth comes the opportunity to serve our patients in a more convenient way. This attractive new facility provides ready access to a range of services that complement the offerings of our existing clinics in Gallatin and Hendersonville,” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer for VUMC. “Hendersonville is a vibrant city, and we are proud to have a greater presence in this dynamic community.”
The building has a distinctive, natural stone, brick and metal construction, and patient check-in areas and waiting rooms mirror the lines and materials of the external design. It features 40 clinic exam rooms, urgent care services and imaging capabilities such as CT, ultrasound and X-ray. Specialties on site at the single-story facility include women’s health, pediatrics, adult primary care, orthopaedics for both adults and children, imaging, rheumatology and walk-in-care. The facility also has three chairs dedicated to non-chemotherapy medical infusions.

It’s important for people to understand that when we do this, we do this with the same quality physicians, nurses, physical therapists, radiologists and other staff they have come to expect from Vanderbilt University Medical Center,” said John W. Brock III, MD, Senior Vice President of Pediatric Surgical Services, Monroe Carell Jr. Professor and Surgeon-in-Chief Emeritus. “These are employees who meet our high standards, and they are going into the community to provide easier access to our very special brand of medicine. This is intentionally in keeping with our mission to provide personalized care.”
Vanderbilt Health Hendersonville — which is located at 128 N. Anderson Lane — is staffed with 50 to 60 clinical and non-clinical employees. Construction, which began in March 2020, was completed by Al. Neyer.
VUMC has had a well-established presence in Sumner County for many years with adult and pediatric care offered in many specialties, including Vanderbilt Eye Institute Hendersonville; primary care, allergy, spine and orthopaedics in Gallatin; and pediatric specialty and after-hours clinics in Hendersonville.
“With the inclusion of this new facility we are able to provide our patients a more comprehensive array of services and the added convenience in many instances of avoiding a commute to Nashville. We are excited after many months of construction to have the facility open and want to welcome our patients,” said Wendy Monaci, MBA, Vice President for Regional Operations.
With the opening of Vanderbilt Health Hendersonville, the pediatric specialties of gastroenterology, cardiology, orthopedics, genetics and rheumatology moved into the new facility. Plans are to move pediatric endocrinology/diabetes to the facility in August. For now, the after-hours pediatric clinic and pediatric speech will remain in their current location.
