Are you pregnant and planning to deliver at VUMC?
If so, you and your baby may be eligible to take part in a research study. This study will examine factors that lead to the development of food allergies and eczema in young babies and toddlers.
The study is open to pregnant persons who plan to deliver at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, and their infants. We also offer study participation to fathers of the infant. The study will include:
- 7 visits in your OB office or at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt during pregnancy and the first 3 years of your child’s life
- Sample Collection (blood, urine, hair, stool, skin tapes and swabs, nasal swabs, cord blood, breast milk, self-collected vaginal swabs)
- Questionnaires related to you and your child’s health, diet, and environment
- Allergy testing of your child
To thank you for your time and participation, we will be compensating our volunteers for each visit, as well as for the surveys, and samples you collect, at home.
