Metro-wide candidates picnic on July 8

On Saturday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University
Medical Center are cohosting a
Countywide Candidates Meet and Greet in Fannie Mae Dees
Park, 2400 Blakemore Ave. (also known as Dragon Park). This event is in collaboration with the
HillsboroWest End Neighborhood Association and BelmontHillsboro Neighbors.

A Nashville campaign tradition, this meet and greet provides an opportunity for the local
community, including the Vanderbilt community, to become better informed about their choices
in the upcoming election.

This free event will feature candidates for mayor, vice mayor and Metro Council atlarge.
Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with the candidates and enjoy a complimentary
picnic lunch.

Early voting in Davidson County begins on Friday, July 14, and ends on Saturday, July 29. Polls
are open on Election Day, Aug. 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Vanderbilt has partnered with TurboVote to provide a voting resource to the community.
to get help with voter registration and voting by mail and to sign up
for election reminders.

To foster active democracy, Vanderbilt has also partnered with several other community
organizations, neighborhood associations, nonprofits and media outlets to provide multiple
opportunities for the community to engage with election candidates and understand their
perspectives on important issues. Three of these forum events have been held to date, with two
more to come on July 8 and July 11.
