The transformation of the diagnostic laboratories at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is expected to bring several benefits, including:
- Meeting the growing need for lab services of the health system
- Positively impacting countless patients who depend on rapid in-house testing for their health care needs at Vanderbilt Health
- Helping to improve the clinician experience by expanding the menu of available tests and modernizing testing capabilities
- Laying the groundwork for the future growth of the health system
The new laboratory—which will feature more than double the space of the existing laboratory– will be located at MetroCenter and will be operational on March 1 & 2
The current lab at The Vanderbilt Clinic will undergo renovations and remain focused on near-patient testing, including surgery, inpatient, and Emergency Department needs.
Information regarding specific changes employees will want to know about, as well as specific details surrounding the downtime, will be shared in future issues of MyVUMC.
Additional details regarding the project can be found on the project’s website at vumc.org/lab-transformation.
