In this two-minute video from January’s Leadership Assembly, Dr. Wright Pinson shares an important update on a transformational project involving VUMC’s laboratory facilities and offerings. Scheduled to open on March 1 at MetroCenter, the new 110,000 square-foot facility will significantly improve lab operations for the health system.
As part of the lab transformation project, we will:
- Design, build, and add a new state-of-the-art laboratory in Nashville at MetroCenter
- Renovate and refocus our existing laboratory on the main campus
- Optimize and expand our menu of laboratory test services
The laboratory transformation project brings several benefits to the health system, including:
- Meeting the ever-evolving demand for laboratory testing with excellent diagnostic services, greater efficiency, and responsive service levels
- Enhancing patient care through better turnaround times for laboratory services
- Improving the clinician experience through expanded service offerings, testing modernization, specimen tracking capabilities, enhanced communication tools, and other efficiencies
- Providing a solid operational and business foundation for future health system growth
