This change allows prescribers to provide pharmacy coverage details for the VUMC Employee Health Plan by showing co-pay amounts, if prior authorization is required, and suggesting potential alternatives.
Details:
- At the start of the encounter, the patient’s pharmacy benefits plan is selected in Verify Rx Benefits. Most of the time this is done automatically or by intake staff
- Place an outpatient medication order. Then, with the order in the order bubble or manage orders sidebar, select Options, then Patient Estimate

You may see a pop-up box that says a PA is required or show potential alternatives:
