Multiple Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery subspecialties are moving to a new Otolaryngology clinic at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks. The first patient day is Sept. 9. Facial Plastic Surgery, Rhinology, Sleep Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology and General Otolaryngology will all see patients at the new clinic.
“The One Hundred Oaks campus will double the size of the Otolaryngology clinics and improve access for our patients,” said Eben Rosenthal, MD, chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Barry and Amy Baker Professor of Laryngeal, Head and Neck Research. “The department is grateful for the support of Drs. Pinson and Balser who have provided all the necessary resources to create a state-of-the-art clinic. Otolaryngology at Vanderbilt is recognized nationally as one of the best clinical and educational departments in the country, and this will certainly maintain our national excellence.”
As part of this expansion, Otolaryngology has created a new aesthetic center within Facial Plastic Surgery that will offer hair restoration and skin treatments. The new Nose and Sinus Center will create a multidisciplinary clinic for rhinologists and facial plastic surgeons to provide care for complex diseases of the nasal passages. The Voice Center will see Botox patients at the new clinic. Head and Neck Cancer and Otology/Neurotology will remain at the Odess clinic.
Rakesh Chandra, MD, MMHC, chief of Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery, is the newly appointed medical director of the One Hundred Oaks Otolaryngology-Head and Neck clinic. Chandra, who holds the Roland “Ron” Eavey, MD, SM, Directorship in Leadership and Education, considers this clinic an opportunity to expand access to Vanderbilt Otolaryngology services for patients across Middle Tennessee, for the entire spectrum of routine and advanced problems.
“This new, modern space also allows us to address many conditions with in-office procedures, potentially avoiding surgery under anesthesia,” he said.
