A simulation drill will occur at Vanderbilt University Hospital on Friday, March 27, between 7 and 11 a.m. The exercise is designed to help teams practice patient flow and create space for a potential surge of patients in the event of a mass casualty incident. Employees and visitors may notice minor adjustments to normal operations during the drill.

As part of the exercise, some admitted patients in the adult emergency department may be moved briefly to support the training scenario and evaluate how care teams prepare treatment areas. Any patient movement will involve only stable patients within the adult ED and will be carefully coordinated to maintain safety and continuity of care.

To protect patient and employee privacy, hospital staff and visitors are asked not to take photos or videos of the exercise. VUH personnel involved in the drill may capture photos or videos for training purposes only.

Clear signage will be posted throughout VUH, notifying hospital staff and visitors about the drill. For any questions, please contact Emergency Operations, emergency.operations@vumc.org.
