Vanderbilt University’s construction of Stevenson Center 6 will begin this month, impacting vehicle and pedestrian traffic along Garland Ave.

Beginning May 11, a portion of Garland Ave. will be closed until mid-September.

However, two-way vehicle traffic will continue to be available between 24th Avenue and Medical Center North’s Round Wing shuttle drop off using a temporary road.

Pedestrian traffic will be moved to the right side of Garland Ave. during this period.

Traffic directors will be along the revised route to assist vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow. Authorized vehicular access behind Langford Auditorium will be rerouted to 23rd Avenue.

Foundation excavation for the new building will require construction blasting, which will begin on May 18, and occur Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with blasting typically occurring at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. intervals. Traffic on Stevenson Center Lane will be stopped for each blast.
