The Institute of Imaging Science will host a lecture at 4 p.m. May 20, “The Central Restless System: From Brain to Spinal Cord,” presented by Dimitri Van De Ville, PhD, professor of Bioengineering, EPFL and the University of Geneva. The lecture will be held in MRB III room 1220.

Van De Ville is a Professor at EPFL’s Neuro-X Institute, jointly affiliated with the University of Geneva’s Department of Radiology and Medical Informatics, and Director of the Medical Image Processing Laboratory in the EPFL School of Engineering. His research develops signal and image processing methods for computational neuroimaging, combining tools such as wavelets, graph signal processing, MRI, and M/EEG to study functional networks of the brain and spinal cord in health and disease. His honors include the Pfizer Research Award, the NARSAD Independent Investigator Award, and the IEEE EMBS Technical Achievement Award, and he is a Fellow of the IEEE and the European Association for Signal Processing. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from Ghent University, Belgium.
