David Haynes, MD, MMHC, Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, has been elected President of the American Neurotology Society (ANS).
The premier subspecialty organization dedicated to disorders of the ear, hearing and balance, the ANS provides significant research grant support and holds several educational meetings each year.
Haynes, Vanderbilt Health’s Chief Patient Experience Officer and Chief of the Division of Otology and Neurotology, will preside over three major meetings in Seattle, Los Angeles and Nashville in addition to webinars and study groups throughout the coming year. Previously, he served as treasurer of the ANS from 2021 to 2024.
“It is an honor to be named president of the American Neurotology Society, an organization that strengthens our specialty with exciting research efforts and world-leading patient care,” said Haynes, who holds the Directorship in Otolaryngology for Relationship Development. “I’m eager to represent Vanderbilt Health’s exceptional neurotology program as I assume this role and ensure the contributions of each member and institution work together to continue advancing the clinical and research impact of ear and skull base surgery.”
As the program director of Vanderbilt Health’s Neurotology Fellowship, Haynes is well equipped to lead ANS efforts to provide neurotology fellowship oversight for trainees at institutions across the United States.
As president, Haynes will also provide oversight for Otology and Neurotology, the specialty’s primary journal, in which he has had numerous papers and editorials published.
