The entrances to the shuttle lots 73, 74 and 75 marked with orange cones will be closed, while entrance and exit points along Natchez Trace, Children's Way, Vanderbilt Place and 30th Ave. South will remain open.
Beginning tonight, for the safety and security of employee vehicles, VUPD will implement a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) traffic-control strategy for shuttle parking lots 73, 74, and 75 in response to recent vehicle-theft activity.
Currently, there are five vehicle entrances and exits serving these lots. VUPD will use barricades or traffic cones to close selected access points and consolidate traffic through the primary entry and exit locations along Natchez Trace, Children’s Way, Vanderbilt Place, and 30th Avenue South.
This mitigation strategy will create clearly defined, visible, and more easily monitored access points while maintaining traffic flow for commuters and shuttle operations. The existing traffic signal at Children’s Way and Natchez Trace provides an additional controlled and highly visible point for vehicles entering and exiting the area.
Shuttles and commuter vehicles will continue to move freely throughout the lots once inside.
