The American Thoracic Society (ATS) is presenting John Newman, M.D., professor of Medicine, with its Outstanding Educator Award during the ATS 2014 International Conference in San Diego, May 16-21.
The Outstanding Educator Award is given to an individual with lifetime contributions in clinical and research education, as well as mentoring in the fields of pulmonary, critical care or sleep medicine.
Newman, the Elsa S. Hanigan Professor of Pulmonary Medicine, focuses his research interests on pulmonary circulation. He has educated medical students, house staff, faculty, and respiratory therapists at Vanderbilt, and mentored more than 19 fellows since 1980.
