Credo Award and Five Pillar Leader Award winners were announced May 21 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Clinical Enterprise Leadership Assembly at Langford Auditorium. These staff and faculty awards are given on a quarterly basis.
Cynthia Biggers, manager of the Primary Care Clinic at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, received the Five Pillar Leader Award, given for leadership in service, quality, growth, finance, innovation and the promotion of staff and faculty satisfaction and commitment. Her nominating letter read, “Cynthia has been a tireless advocate on behalf of our patients and our clinic. She has developed an outreach process that focuses on children and youth with special health care needs or difficult family situations. And this process has decreased the likelihood that these fragile children will fall through the cracks of the health care system.”
Credo Awards honor staff and faculty who exemplify the VUMC Credo. The newest winners are: Troy Driver, a cafeteria grill cook at Vanderbilt University Hospital; Luz Figueroa, a care partner in the 7 Round Wing unit; and Thais Miller, a Spanish language medical interpreter.
Figueroa’s nomination noted, “Luz goes above and beyond for her patients.”
Miller’s nomination noted, “I have been repeatedly impressed by Thais’ work ethic and rapport with patients. She is phenomenal at her job, but not only that — she is wonderful to work with.”
Driver’s nomination included an excerpt from a message from a patient and cafeteria patron who had noticed that his morning omelet “just wasn’t as great as Troy Driver makes. I am sure you know, this individual is a talented chef and people stand in line to have him create his masterpieces. And they are masterpieces.”
