Richard Kogan, M.D., a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music and Harvard Medical School, who is both a psychiatrist and a concert pianist, is the 2017 Leonard Visiting Scholar to Vanderbilt. The Department of Medicine and the Blair School of Music are sponsoring two musical performances at the Blair School of Music: Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the Blair School of Music’s Turner Hall; and Medicine Grand Rounds on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 8 a.m. in the Blair School of Music’s Ingram Hall.
Kogan is clinical professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, artistic director of the Weill Cornell Music and Medicine Program and co-director of the Weill Cornell Human Sexuality Program. His piano performances have been reviewed by The New York Times, which praised his “exquisite playing,” and by The Boston Globe, which wrote, “Kogan has somehow managed to excel at the world’s two most demanding professions.”
Both performances are open to the Vanderbilt community on a first-come, first-seated basis.
