Vanderbilt University Medical Center recently launched a new standard attire program for patient service specialists (PSS), the staff who work in outpatient check-in and checkout areas. This program outfits staff across all VUMC clinics with professional clothing, with the expense covered by VUMC rather than the employee.

The look is designed to help ensure that patients receive a consistent, professional experience, regardless of the clinic they are visiting, to match the outstanding clinical care and service they receive while at VUMC.

The new attire includes:

  • Light blue or white button-down shirt
  • Navy vest or blazer with a VUMC, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt or Vanderbilt Walk-In Clinic logo
  • Charcoal gray pants or skirt

“The standard attire initiative provides the professional look our patients expect when coming to such a prestigious institution for their health care,” said Tom Nantais, Executive Vice President of Adult Ambulatory Operations. “Some of our PSS staff began wearing their new attire in late February, and they look outstanding. I want to thank each member of our PSS team for their understanding and support of this very important initiative. Given my experience at another major medical center, I believe the PSS staff will receive many compliments from our patients, visitors and co-workers, which are always nice to hear.”
