Chandler Miniat, MMHC, has been named director of Nursing Support Services at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Miniat will report to Marilyn Dubree, MSN, RN, Executive Chief Nursing Officer. She succeeds Jim Sutton, MS, who is leaving after 15 years at Vanderbilt.
As director, Miniat will oversee VandyWorks, the scheduling and staffing system used by about 19,000 employees across the Medical Center for requesting time off, self-scheduling, reporting and viewing their daily assignments. She will also provide leadership for workforce initiatives.
“The new role is really about taking that one step further and providing tools for our leaders to better understand the trends of our workforce and plan to be proactive with staffing,” she said.
For the last 18 months, Miniat has served with Dubree and others in the COVID-19 command center, managing the labor pool during the pandemic.
“We are taking a lot of what we learned from that work to mold and shape this director position, to take it to the next level,” she said.
Miniat has worked at Vanderbilt for nearly 25 years. Prior to the new role, she worked the last five years as manager of systems administration for Nursing Support Services. She oversaw the expansion of users inside VandyWorks from 7,000 to 19,000 and implemented about 700 unique business teams. The expansion included onboarding Vanderbilt Health’s newly acquired hospitals — Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital, Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital and Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital — in the past 24 months.

Miniat recently completed her Master of Management in Health Care (MMHC) degree from Vanderbilt University and holds a bachelor’s in communication and journalism from Belmont University.
