VUSN’s Moore-Davis receives nurse-midwife award
Vanderbilt University School of Nursing's Tonia Moore-Davis, M.S.N., C.N.M., recently received the Kitty Ernst Award from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) during the group's annual meeting.
The award honors a nurse-midwife who has demonstrated innovative work in clinical practice, education, administration or research and has been certified for fewer than 10 years.

“Tonia is a talented practitioner as well as a tireless advocate for nurse-midwifery,” said Bonnie Pilon, D.S.N., M.S.N., senior associate dean for Faculty Practice at VUSN.
“She is a respected leader at Vanderbilt, and is emerging as a leader on the national level as well.”
Moore-Davis joined the nurse-midwifery faculty and the school's clinical practice in 2005.
She currently serves as the clinical practice manager for the certified nurse-midwives, sets clinical standards and ensures quality at both the West End Women's Health Center and the Franklin Road Women's Health Center. She also teaches medical students, nurse-midwifery students and obstetrical residents. In her capacity at VUSN, she won the Vanderbilt Ob/Gyn Department's educator of the year honors for two consecutive years.
Moore-Davis serves on the board of Health Occupations Students of America, is secretary for the Midwifery Business Network, and is a member of the ACNM quality management committee and the Tennessee Initiative for Perinatal Quality Care.
The Kitty Ernst Award is named after ACNM's fourth and youngest president and was established in 1998.
Moore-Davis joins VUSN colleagues Francie Likis, Ph.D., C.N.M., and Julia Phillippi, M.S.N., C.N.M., as recipients of the award.
