Kendrick greeted with Medical Center’s Commodore Award
Harold Kendrick, guest services representative at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, has received the 2008 Commodore Award for Vanderbilt Medical Center staff.
Kendrick came to Vanderbilt in 2000 and has served as a greeter for the main entrance of the Children's Hospital since it opened in 2004.
“I believe he is the perfect choice for this important honor,” said Kevin Churchwell, M.D., CEO of Children's Hospital.
“Mr. Harold exemplifies and models our most important mission — that our patients and families come first. Every day he represents our hospital in a friendly, compassionate, thoughtful and profoundly competent manner.
“Mr. Harold has decided to take the path to make Children's Hospital a special place for our children and their families, and that has made all the difference for our hospital.”
Kendrick was recognized by Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos during halftime at the Sept. 13 Vanderbilt football game, and will attend a reception as well as be honored during the Employee Recognition Ceremony on Sept. 24.
“I was shocked and thrilled to receive this honor. I was especially honored and humbled that Dr. Kevin Churchwell nominated me,” Kendrick said.
Commodore Award recipients receive an engraved crystal bowl and a check for $5,000.
