Johns Hopkins’ Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, M.D., (second from right) delivered this year’s Levi Watkins Jr. Lecture on Diversity in Medical Education, held in honor of Levi Watkins Jr., M.D., (center), the first African-American student to be admitted and to graduate from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. On hand at the lecture were (from left) Andre Churchwell, M.D., George Hill, Ph.D., Watkins, Quinones-Hinojosa and Harry Jacobson, M.D. This summer, Watkins was named Vanderbilt University’s 2008 Distinguished Alumnus.
