Hain, Rush new Children’s Hospital chiefs
Paul Hain, M.D., and Margaret “Meg” Rush, M.D., have been named interim associate chiefs of staff at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
The role of chief-of-staff was previously held by Kevin Churchwell, M.D., who is now serving as interim chief executive officer of Children's Hospital.
“I am very excited to be working with both of them,” Churchwell said. “Dr. Hain and Dr. Rush have already shown an enthusiasm and willingness to participate in ongoing efforts here at Children's Hospital. They are well-respected among staff and have really jumped in and provided great leadership.”
Hain's responsibilities will include bed management and development and implementation of a census plan. He will also lead efforts in quality improvement and patient care through evidence-enhanced medical procedures, among other duties.
Rush will serve as medical director of the medical staff, working as a medical representative from administration to the medical staff. She will also head up quality and safety initiatives and efforts.
Hain is the director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program and assistant professor of Pediatrics. He is also the medical director of the observation, overflow and seventh floor inpatient units. Hain joined the faculty at Children's Hospital in 2001 after completing his pediatric residency there. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt.
Rush is an assistant professor of Pediatrics and program director for Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She is also associate director of Pediatric Transport, medical director of Neonatal Transport and co-chair of VUMC's Ethics Committee.
She joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 1990 after completing her residency and fellowship training at Vanderbilt. She earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine.
