Magazine lauds Vanderbilt physicians
Three Vanderbilt physicians are among those named in Men's Health magazine's first annual listing of America's Top Doctors for Men.
The popular lifestyle and fitness magazine's list is based on medical research firm Castle Connolly's America's Top Doctors. The most recent edition of that list featured 49 Vanderbilt physicians.
According to the magazine, the physicians listed are those “who have the knowledge, the experience, and the tools to maintain and repair the 21st century man.”
Vanderbilt physicians listed were:
• Alvin Powers, M.D., recently named director of the Vanderbilt Diabetes Center (Endocrinology);
• Dan Spengler, M.D., chair of the Department of Orthopaedics (Sports Medicine);
• Douglas Vaughan, M.D., chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (Cardiologists/Internists).
Other specialties listed in the magazine were Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Psychiatry and Urology.
In the United States, Men's Health has a circulation of approximately 1.8 million, and is the largest men's brand in the world, with 31 international editions in 39 countries.
