Charles E. Matthews, Ph.D. recently joined the Vanderbilt University Medical Center faculty as assistant professor of Medicine.
Matthews graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science. He earned a Master of Science degree from University of South Carolina in 1991, also in exercise science. He later earned a Ph.D. degree in epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts in 1999.
Prior to coming to Vanderbilt, Matthews was a research assistant professor in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department at the University of South Carolina.
Matthews has published studies in American Journal of Epidemiology, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, and British Journal of Cancer.
