Community Supports VCH Radiothon

This past weekend, Mix 92.9 listeners called in to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital phone bank — some in the memory of a loved one, some in honor of their child who is struggling with an illness and some in gratitude for their healthy child.

They called to donate to the Mix 92.9 Children’s Miracle Weekend Radiothon, hosted by Rick Marino and Anna Marie Ritter. The event ran from Friday, Aug. 22 through Sunday, Aug. 24 and raised more than $156, 000 for the children of VCH, with more donations still being sent in.

“Every year we are amazed with the generosity of the community,” said Rosalie Boyd, associate director of Development for VCH. “We are deeply appreciative of the entire Mix 92.9 team and all of our Change Bandits and volunteers who worked so hard to make the weekend such a huge success. We’re particularly thrilled to have signed up 207 Mix Miracle Club members who we hope will continue to support the hospital for a very long time.”

Mix Miracle Club members pledged to donate $15 a month to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. The Radiothon weekend was kicked off with the annual Change Bandit Bash.

More than 100 adults and children carried bags of coins and cash to Carabba’s Italian Grill last Thursday, and together raised more than $20,000 for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Participants in the Change Bandits program “robbed” family, friends and co-workers of their spare change and donated it to Children’s Hospital.
