VICC faculty named to NCI scientific board

Two members of senior leadership at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center have been appointed to the Board of Scientific Advisors of the National Cancer Institute.
The two are Dr. Raymond N. DuBois, Mina Cobb Wallace Professor of Cancer Prevention and the cancer center’s associate director for Cancer Prevention, Control and Population-Based Research, and Lynn Matrisian, Ph.D., chair of Cancer Biology and Ingram Professor of Cancer Research.
The board was established in 1996 to provide scientific advice on a wide variety of matters concerning scientific program policy, progress and future direction of the NCI’s extramural research programs, and concept review of extramural program initiatives.
“This board has tremendous input into how the nation’s resources are focused on cancer research by NCI-funded investigators throughout the country,” said Dr. Harold L. Moses, Benjamn F. Byrd Jr. Professor of Oncology and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center director. “As an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we are pleased to share the expertise of two of our senior leaders with this important group. Lynn and Ray will bring great insight to the board’s work.”
The board meets at the NCI in Bethesda, Md., three times yearly, including an annual joint session with the Board of Scientific Counselors, which provides similar advice for NCI’s intramural programs.
