On Oct. 18, capping a poster session at Langford Auditorium, winners of the second annual Quality, Safety and Risk Prevention (QSRP) Pursuit of Excellence Awards were recognized.

Open to all Vanderbilt University Medical Center organizational entities, care areas, teams and departments, the annual awards program recognizes and celebrates improvement work going on across the enterprise.

All quality improvement projects were eligible to be submitted prior to the July 1 deadline, and more than 80 submissions were received from across all entities within VUMC. From these posters, 24 finalists were chosen. Each poster went through three rounds of judging, including an evaluation by a quality professional, an executive leader, and research professional or patient/family advisory representative.

All 24 finalists were invited to share their work at the poster session prior to the awards ceremony, where a winner was announced from each entity, along with a VUMC Project of the Year. Winners received their awards from Jenny Slayton, DNP, RN, Senior Vice President, Quality, Safety and Risk Prevention, and C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer.

This exemplifies VUMC’s commitment to quality and patient safety as part of our journey as a high-reliability organization. We thank all our team members for making this event a success and their commitment to quality and patient safety every day.”
