VUMC Pets of the Day: Twyla and Majestic

Today’s Dog of the Day is Twyla, submitted by Lyndia Burns-Fults of Child and Family Services. “Twyla is a rescue from the Nashville Humane Association. When we first adopted her, she was shy and afraid of everything. Now, Twyla is the queen of our neighborhood. Her hobbies are living the lake life, being groomed by the mobile spa and being a fashionista.”

Today’s Horse of the Day is Majestic, submitted by Linda Smith of IT. “Majestic is a Tennessee Walking mare who is 14 years old; I got her at 8 years old. She was a rescue. Having been abused, it took over 6 months before she would let me near her without a lead. Now she comes to me in the field and follows me around.”

Pets of the Day — what you need to know

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Pets of the Day are included in regular editions of the MyVUMC News newsletter, which is posted twice a week by VUMC News and Communications.

The pets are selected from the hundreds of entries sent to the VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest.

For those who submitted a photo to that contest, watch MyVUMC News for Pets of the Day, and in addition, regular collections of pet photos are posted to the VUMC Voice site. You can see them all here: https://news.vumc.org/section/voice/pets-vumc/.

If you have a pet you would like to nominate for Pet of the Day, the next Pet Photo Contest submission period is coming up later this year, and will be announced in MyVUMC News.

Twyla and Majestic were featured in the Dec. 2, 2025, edition of MyVUMC News.
