A new generative artificial intelligence (AI) powered search feature will be available in UpToDate at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Jan. 22. UpToDate Expert AI allows users to enter questions in natural, conversational language and receive a tailored summary answer based on UpToDate content.
Please carefully review the following VUMC disclaimer notice prior to using UpToDate Expert AI:
Access to or use of UpToDate Expert AI constitutes your acknowledgment and agreement that all activity must comply with all applicable VUMC policies and requirements, including, without limitation, the Acceptable Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies Policy (https://powerdms.com/link/VanderbiltUMC/document/?id=2560684), and that you will not enter, upload, or otherwise submit any Protected Health Information (PHI), personal information or other sensitive data, or VUMC data to the platform.
Multiple opportunities are available to receive training on the new UpToDate Expert AI feature:
- All registered UpToDate users will receive an email on Jan. 22; the email will provide additional instructions and links to UpToDate-provided training. It is recommended that all UpToDate users register to ensure receipt of the communication from UpToDate announcing the availability of Expert AI. If you have not already registered, you can establish an account by going to UpToDate while on the VUMC network or VPN. Click the pulldown menu next to “Vanderbilt University Medical Center User” in the navigation bar, select “My account,” and follow the prompts.
- Additionally, as of Jan. 22, an instructional video on how to use UpToDate’s new Expert AI and how to become a registered user, will be available at the MyKnowledgeHub site (https://myknowledgehub.vumc.org/), where individual and group training can also be requested.
Please note that only registered users can access UpToDate Expert AI.
