VUMC Pets of the Day: Marley and Noodle

Today’s Dog of the Day is Marley, submitted by Connie Greer of Plant Operations at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital. “Marley is a frisky Bernedoodle who loves to climb trees.”

Today’s Ferret of the Day is Noodle, submitted by Emily Lindsey of Enterprise Analytics. “Noodle is a ferret that I decided to get after a lapse of judgment during the pandemic. She had been alone at the pet store for over a month after her siblings had been sold, and the employees had to spend extra time with her since they are social creatures. They encouraged me to hold her and insisted that ferrets are just like cats. I fell in love immediately and got her that day. They are not like cats. They are essentially tiny toddlers on caffeine. Of course, being social creatures I had to get her a sister named Gnocchi. They keep me entertained and provide a great mental reset during a stressful day.”

Pets of the Day — what you need to know

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Pets of the Day are included in regular editions of the MyVUMC News newsletter, which is posted twice a week by VUMC News and Communications.

The pets are selected from the hundreds of entries sent to the VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest.

For those who submitted a photo to that contest, watch MyVUMC News for Pets of the Day, and in addition, regular collections of pet photos are posted to the VUMC Voice site. You can see them all here: https://news.vumc.org/section/voice/pets-vumc/.

If you have a pet you would like to nominate for Pet of the Day, the next Pet Photo Contest submission period is coming up later this year, and will be announced in MyVUMC News.

Marley and Noodle were featured in the Jan. 27, 2026, edition of MyVUMC News.
