William Laxton, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been appointed to a new position as Ambulatory Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Medical Group Outpatient Imaging Centers.
The VMG Outpatient Imaging Centers provide X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography and bone density imaging services at more than 30 Middle Tennessee locations, including Vanderbilt University Hospital and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Laxton also will work with Morgan Anderson, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences and Medical Director of Vanderbilt Imaging Services, which has five Nashville-area locations.
A specialist in cardiothoracic and abdominal imaging, Laxton earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed fellowship training in cross-sectional body imaging at Johns Hopkins University before joining the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine faculty in 2015.

“His proven ability to align clinical excellence with operational innovation positions him to lead the continued growth, quality and performance of Vanderbilt Health’s ambulatory imaging services,” Allen said.
