After serving as interim president of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Meg Rush, MD, MMHC, has been named to permanently fill the role of president. Succeeding Rush in the role as hospital’s chief of staff is John Thomas, MD, associate professor of Pediatric Urology.

John Pope IV, MD, professor of Urologic Surgery and Pediatrics, has been named director of the Division of Pediatric Urology at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Portable VAD gives patient a bridge to heart transplant

For nearly a month, 15-year-old Trinity Scott sported a black canvas messenger bag filled with favorite books, lip gloss or school supplies. Her bag even had a name, “Alice.” But far from any ordinary bag, what was inside was literally keeping her alive.

Thousands gathered downtown on Saturday, Dec. 7, for the annual Nashville Christmas Parade benefiting Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. New for this year was the honor of parade hometown hero. Children’s Hospital patient Lily Hensiek was chosen as this year’s hero for her work raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research.
