Nursing graduates embrace quest for health care excellence

Dean Linda Norman, DSN, told the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing’s 2019 graduating class that she is optimistic about the future of health care because of them.

C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, and honorary co-chair Jennifer Najjar, MD, presented trophies to the winner of The Margaret Currey Henley Stakes race at the 78th Iroquois Steeplechase on Saturday, May 11. Since designating Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as its official charity in 1981, the Steeplechase has raised more than $10 million for the hospital. Thousands of spectators gathered this year for the event, which has become Nashville’s rite of spring.

Beryl Akinyi Ooro, MBChB, a general surgeon from AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya, visited VUMC recently to meet with surgical faculty, residents and medical students, and to observe both in the operating room and at a clinical practice.
