The Nashville Farmers’ Market at Vanderbilt University Medical Center  returns Thursday, June 1, and will be held every Thursday from 2 to 5:30 p.m. through Oct. 26.

Remembering Floyd Dennis, disability civil rights advocate

H. Floyd Dennis, professor of special education, emeritus, died April 17 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was 89. As a Vanderbilt Kennedy Center researcher, Dennis was founding director of the Kennedy Center Institute on Youth and Social Development.

School of Nursing parking lot closing May 15

A parking lot on 21st Avenue South, Lot 7, will close permanently Monday, May 15, as the university begins work on the new 29,947-square-foot addition to the School of Nursing. Lot 7 will be converted to a green space, with a drive that will allow for drop off at the entry of the renovated facility.

Class of 2017: Jacob Schultz, former walk-on snapper, heads to medical school on Navy scholarship

When Jacob Schultz learned the U.S. Navy had awarded him a prestigious Health Professions Scholarship to medical school, he didn’t tell his family—at least not immediately. Four days later, Schultz, a senior snapper on Vanderbilt’s football team, also learned he’d been accepted into Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine.
