Two national disability-related organizations representing professionals and families are recognizing the accomplishments of three Vanderbilt Kennedy Center members.

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos, Provost Susan R. Wente and School of Nursing Dean Linda Norman celebrated the groundbreaking for the Vanderbilt School of Nursing's new building June 20.

The Nashville Farmers’ Market at Vanderbilt University Medical Center  returns Thursday, June 1, and will be held every Thursday from 2 to 5:30 p.m. through Oct. 26.

The Vanderbilt University School of Nursing presented its annual awards to faculty, staff and a friend of the school during its spring assembly on May 18.

H. Floyd Dennis, professor of special education, emeritus, died April 17 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was 89. As a Vanderbilt Kennedy Center researcher, Dennis was founding director of the Kennedy Center Institute on Youth and Social Development.

A parking lot on 21st Avenue South, Lot 7, will close permanently Monday, May 15, as the university begins work on the new 29,947-square-foot addition to the School of Nursing. Lot 7 will be converted to a green space, with a drive that will allow for drop off at the entry of the renovated facility.

When Jacob Schultz learned the U.S. Navy had awarded him a prestigious Health Professions Scholarship to medical school, he didn’t tell his family—at least not immediately. Four days later, Schultz, a senior snapper on Vanderbilt’s football team, also learned he’d been accepted into Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine.
