Multiple options help atrial fibrillation patients
Since launching its program offering patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) an alternative treatment to reduce their risk of stroke and avoiding long-term use of blood thinners, the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute (VHVI) has consistently ranked among the top centers in the country for the implantation of left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) devices. -

Panel explores issues surrounding gun violence prevention
About the same time a Vanderbilt University School of Medicine panel discussion on gun violence prevention ended Feb. 14 in Light Hall, a heavily armed young man barged into his former high school in Parkland, Florida, and opened fire on students and teachers, killing 17 and injuring others. -

Vanderbilt University Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy on Vanderbilt’s campus, hosted its 16th annual, 13-hour “Big Event” on Feb. 17, the culmination of a year of raising funds and awareness for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. -
