VUMC mourns loss of noted hypertension expert Elijovich

Fernando Elijovich, MD, professor of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, died in Nashville on Oct. 21. He was 77.

Low vision initiative for children lands new funding

Vanderbilt’s Project PAVE has received funding from the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to continue the program that has provided low-vision evaluations for more than 2,150 school-age children in Tennessee since 1993.

Kidney Transplant Program celebrates 60th anniversary

The Vanderbilt Transplant Center is celebrating its 60th anniversary of its first kidney transplant, performed on Oct. 3, 1962. Since then, VUMC has performed more than 7,000 kidney transplants, of which Walker was one of the earlier cases.
