Match Day reveals medical students’ residency locations

Match Day — and Vanderbilt’s longstanding tradition of gathering fourth-year medical students, their families, friends and faculty together to celebrate — was revamped again this year to implement social distancing measures due to COVID-19. Unlike last year, however, the students had the option to reveal their residency matches either in person or virtually via livestream.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has launched specialized Physical Therapy (PT) residency programs in Orthopaedics (Sports) and Pediatrics in addition to an existing Neurological program, making Vanderbilt one of a handful of hospital systems in the country to offer three or more physical therapy residencies.

PM&R residency program gains ACGME approval

Vanderbilt’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) will welcome its first class of residents next summer. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved the new residency program to begin in July 2015.
