Vanderbilt student health staff kept busy with flu-like cases

The novel H1N1 flu virus is a presence on the Vanderbilt campus, as it is on many U.S. university campuses, but it appears to be no more serious than the regular seasonal flu, Vanderbilt’s chief student health official says.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Vanderbilt University students dance all night for a good cause Feb. 13-14

Hundreds of Vanderbilt students will hit the dance floor Feb. 13-14 during Dance Marathon, a 14-hour student-run event to raise money for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Children’s Miracle Network. Dance Marathon will be held from 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, until 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Student Recreation Center on Vanderbilt’s campus. The event is open to the public and all proceeds from Dance Marathon will go to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

More than 500 Vanderbilt University students will dance the night away to benefit the health and well-being of area children during Dance Marathon, a 14-hour student-run event to raise money for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children‘s Hospital at Vanderbilt and Children‘s Miracle Network.

With final exams over until the spring, Vanderbilt University students will pull an all-nighter of a different sort on Friday, Feb. 17, when they hit the dance floor from 7 p.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.

Vanderbilt continues to respond to victims of Hurricane Katrina

A week after Vanderbilt University began admitting students displaced by Hurricane Katrina, approximately 100 students from Gulf Coast colleges and universities had registered for classes. Vanderbilt Medical Center now has treated more than 70 Gulf Coast evacuees, hospitalizing more than 20, and its LifeFlight reserve helicopter and fixed wing aircraft and their medical teams continue to assist in disaster relief and patient transport out of the region.
