Academy for Excellence in Teaching adds new members
The Academy for Excellence in Teaching has announced 12 new members for 2011.
The newest members include:
• John Algren, M.D., professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics, vice chair of Educational Affairs, acting vice chair for Pediatric Affairs and director of the residency program;
• Jim Atkinson, M.D., Ph.D., professor of Pathology and director of the Disease, Diagnosis and Therapeutics course;
• Ron Cowan, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Psychiatry and Radiology and Radiological Sciences and director of the Psychiatric Neuroimaging Program;
• Ed Donnelly, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences;
• Leah Harris, M.D., associate professor of Pediatrics and vice chair for Academic Affairs in Pediatrics;
• John McPherson, M.D., associate professor of Medicine;
• Sandi Moutsios, M.D., assistant professor of Medicine and Pediatrics;
• Derek Riebau; M.D., assistant professor of Neurology;
• Mario Rojas, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of Pediatrics and director of Patient-Oriented Research;
• Beth Ann Sastre, M.D., assistant professor of Medicine;
• Rebecca Swan, M.D., assistant professor of Pediatrics and director of the Pediatric Residency Program; and
• Laura Wayman, M.D., assistant professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and vice chair for Education.
These newest additions bring the academy's total membership to 73. They will be recognized for their exemplary contributions to the educational enterprise at Vanderbilt at the Academy for Excellence in Teaching annual Chapman dinner on April 12.
