Cancer survivorship event set

Cancer survivors, family members, friends and health care professionals who care for cancer patients are invited to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center's annual Celebration of Cancer Survivorship event, Sunday, June 6, in the Vanderbilt Student Life Center.

Viewing of the “Oncology On Canvas” art exhibit begins at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception.

The main program, which includes survivorship recognition and an uplifting candle-lighting ceremony, will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Rachel Lozano, three-time survivor of an Askin's tumor of the spinal cord, is this year's keynote speaker. Lozano is an artist, writer, student and inspirational speaker.

The annual survivorship event is co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the Tennessee Cancer Coalition and is open to all cancer survivors regardless of where they received their treatment.

Free parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage, with continuous shuttle service to the event.
