Child books program hits big milestone

Books from Birth of Middle Tennessee recently marked a new milestone, delivering its 2 millionth Dolly Parton Imagination Library book to a 3-year-old in Middle Tennessee.

First Lady Crissy Haslam presented the book to Moria Smith at an event at the downtown Nashville Public Library. Haslam also read to preschoolers from McKendree Childcare.

Books from Birth of Middle Tennessee is the early literacy initiative of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt that oversees Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Davidson, Sumner and Williamson counties. Children receive a free, age-appropriate book every month from birth to age 5.
