Classes set for cancer survivors

Classes set for cancer survivors

To address the challenges of cancer survivorship, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center has launched “Wellness Wednesday,” an educational series of workshops for cancer survivors and their caregivers.

Beginning in October, the free programs will be held the first Wednesday of each month and are designed to help individuals cope with the physical, emotional and practical issues created as a result of the disease process and cancer treatments.

The classes are open to any cancer survivors currently receiving therapy or who are post-therapy or their caregivers, no matter where they received treatment.

The seminars will be held on the first floor of The Vanderbilt Clinic, conference room 1800B.

The first workshop, on Monday, Oct. 5 from 10-11:30 a.m., will provide an overview of the Vanderbilt Cancer Wellness and REACH for Survivorship Programs.

Jay Groves, Ed.D., and Ali Schaffer, LCSW, will lead the seminar.
